Our Mission

  • TO EDUCATE the public as to the effectiveness, dependability and affordability of unlicensed psychotherapy.
  • TO PROTECT the public’s right to choose from a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional therapeutic approaches.
  • TO PROMOTE innovation in the field of psychotherapy.
  • TO PROVIDE essential legal, theoretical and practical information and instruction to it members

Our Goals and Objectives

  • To protect the freedom of individuals to select and utilize the services of the therapist of their choice.
  • To protect the rights of unlicensed psychotherapists practicing in Colorado.
  • To provide continuing education for unlicensed psychotherapists in the state of Colorado.
  • To encourage and promote competence and ethical conduct among members in the practice of psychotherapy.
  • To promote the welfare and interests of the members of CAP in a reasonable and legal manner.
  • To coordinate and promote revenue raising events and activities.
  • To establish dialogue and cooperation with other organizations with the objective of promoting the purposes of CAP.
  • To work with licensed psychotherapy groups, addressing mutual concerns and issues.
  • To insure the viability and availability of complimentary therapeutic methods and theories, while supporting therapeutic modalities equally.

Code of Conduct

The Code of Ethics is designed to provide guidelines and ethical standards of practice for the members of the Colorado Association of Psychotherapists.
