President's Message August 2006

Dear Members, Students and Friends:

Who We Are:

The Colorado Association of Psychotherapists (CAP) is the professional organization that has represented the unlicensed psychotherapy community since 1991. CAP works with the Department of Regulatory Agencies, the Colorado State Mental Health Grievance Board, legislators, educators and psychotherapists in Colorado to maintain the quality of services offered by the unlicensed community.

Our Mission is:

Our mission is to support both unlicensed psychotherapists right to practice and the public’s right to choose with safety. CAP is dedicated to ensuring that all individuals in Colorado have the freedom to continue to select the therapist of their choice, unlicensed or licensed.

Our Goals for 2007:

Our primary goal for 2007 is to support each of you in having a successful, satisfying and abundant private practice. One of the most interesting statistics that I know is that by 1975, 92% of families in America were at least some what dysfunctional! There are no shortage of individuals that need the help of a good psychotherapist. The key is knowing how to do effective and consistent marketing to build your practice.

The Cap Event:

In order to help you jump start your practice for 2007, we have planned the CAP Event! This is also to celebrate our 15th year anniversary. We are bringing Juliet Austin MA., who specializes in teaching marketing to psychotherapists and healing arts practitioners, here for a presentation and workshop. To register, fill out the attached flyer and send it in, with a check made out to CAP. Be sure to look at Juliet's web site. She has a great report on marketing available. I hope to see you at the CAP Event!
